Resorts Casino Hotel announced two significant capital projects designed to strengthen the property’s infrastructure, enhance guest experience, and support long-term operational efficiency. The investments include the replacement of five cooling towers and a comprehensive restoration of the Ocean Tower façade.
Cooling Tower Replacement Project
Resorts is moving forward with the replacement of five 40-year-old cooling towers from the center roof with a brand-new energy efficient system. Also being replaced is the roof and structural steel that support the towers. The new system will improve energy efficiency by maintaining cooling and refrigeration throughout the property with usage-based demand. Other advantages of the new cooling towers include:
- Improved reliability and performance
- Enhanced energy efficiency
- Modernized technology to reduce environmental impact
- Greater resilience during peak seasonal demand
“This investment ensures our guests experience the highest level of comfort while also strengthening our building systems for decades to come,” said Mark Giannantonio, President & CEO of Resorts Casino Hotel. “Modernizing our mechanical infrastructure is essential to supporting future growth.”
A 500-ton crane with a 210-foot reach is being used to remove the old towers from the roof. Additionally, new traffic patterns are in place in the valet area over the next several weeks. Please note that there will be no disruption to business operations.
Ocean Tower Façade Restoration
Resorts is also launching an extensive 3 phase exterior restoration project for the Ocean Tower, one of the most iconic structures on the Atlantic City Boardwalk. The work includes repairing, restoring, and coating the façade to enhance durability and revitalize the tower’s visual appeal. The restoration is being handled with great care to maintain the architectural value of the 100-year-old building.
The façade project will feature:
- Structural repairs and sealing
- Surface restoration to extend the building’s lifespan with new balustrades and rail systems
- Weatherproof improvements to withstand coastal conditions
“Our Ocean Tower has been a landmark on the Boardwalk for decades,” Giannantonio added. “This restoration ensures it remains both beautiful and structurally strong, reflecting our continued commitment to investing in Atlantic City.”
Commitment to the Future
Since acquiring the property in 2010, the Morris Bailey and Joe Jerome families have invested more than $190 million in capital improvements at Resorts Casino Hotel. These new projects reinforce the company’s ongoing strategy of reinvesting in its facilities, supporting local construction and skilled trades, and preserving its position as a premier Atlantic City destination.
Project partners include: Joseph Dugan, Joseph B Callahan Engineering; Conn Schaeffer Consulting Engineers; iMeg Engineering; MEP; Riggs Distler; Fortress Steel; Maxim Crane Works; Herman Goldner Co.; US Roofing Systems; Tri-State; Skyway Insulators; Sunbelt Rentals.
