First tour together in a decade comes to Atlantic City on Saturday, February 13th
ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (November 23, 2015) – The unforgettable and unmatchable funk legends, the Gap Band, are making a comeback after ten years apart. The Gap Band is set to bring their “20/20 Vision” tour to the Superstar Theater inside Resorts Casino Hotel in Atlantic City on Saturday, February 13th at 9:00pm.
Tickets for this show went on sale on Saturday, November 21st for $50.00, $40.00 and $25.00 through Ticketmaster. Customers may purchase tickets by logging on to ticketmaster.com, calling Ticketmaster’s national toll free number 1.800.745.3000 or visiting any Ticketmaster outlet.
Ronnie Wilson, the founder of the Gap Band, along with original band members Raymond Calhoun, Billy Young, Terry Scott, Roman Johnson, Jimi Macon and Oliver Scott are reforming the Gap Band in 2016 and promise to deliver fans all the hits songs they remember, fused with a new sound that will leave them wanting more.
Best known for their mega hits “Burn Rubber (Why You Wanna Hurt Me),” “Early in the Morning,” “You Dropped a Bomb on Me,” “Outstanding” and “Party Train,” the Gap Band toiled in obscurity for several years prior to becoming one of the most popular funk groups of the late 1970s and 1980s. The Tulsa, Oklahoma natives produced 15 Top Ten R&B singles ranging from ferocious funk anthems to quiet storm ballads such as “Yearning for Your Love” and “Are You Living.” Many hits featured instantly-memorable, rippling synthesizer basslines and all featured deep, invigorating lead vocals that are still heavily sampled by hip-hop artists today.
